Answers to common questions

What does ATS do for manufacturers?

ATS helps manufacturers improve equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime and increase productivity. We provide maintenance, reliability, technical workforce, storeroom and industrial technology solutions, built around each facility’s goals and operating conditions. Support can start with a single production line or span an entire reliability program—either way, we work alongside your team on the floor. Today, we support hundreds of manufacturers across the United States, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

What manufacturing challenges does ATS help solve?

Manufacturers come to ATS with unplanned downtime, reactive maintenance practices and equipment reliability problems—often alongside maintenance staffing shortages and a widening skills gap. The result of the work is more stable operations, higher uptime and production targets your team can plan against.

How is ATS different from other maintenance providers?

Unlike providers focused on labor alone, ATS combines on-site technical expertise, technology-driven solutions, in-house parts repair, and storeroom management to help manufacturers improve reliability and uptime. Working with a single partner across all of them means one team sees the whole picture.

What industries does ATS serve?

ATS supports manufacturers in automotive, consumer packaged goods, aerospace and heavy equipment, along with building products, paper and pulp, metal products, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, power distribution, and tire and rubber. Having worked across a wide range of manufacturing environments, we understand that no two facilities operate the same, which is why we tailor our approach to each customer’s needs.

Do you provide on-site maintenance technicians?

Yes. ATS places skilled maintenance technicians on site, employed and managed by ATS, with training, safety programs and supervision included. If a facility wants to build permanent headcount instead, we can recruit maintenance talent for direct hire as part of a broader reliability program.

How do you determine what my facility needs?

It starts with a walkthrough of your operation. We review equipment condition and criticality, current maintenance processes and workforce coverage, then bring findings back to your team with a recommended scope. You see what we found before any commitment.

How do I know your technicians are qualified and experienced?

ATS technicians complete a combined 75,000 hours of technical and safety training annually, and advance through defined skill levels tied to certification. On average, we maintain a 50% lower recordable incident rate than industry standard. Before an engagement starts, we work closely with your team to understand your operations and requirements, then assemble a team with the qualifications, certifications and relevant equipment experience needed to support your goals.

Can ATS support both mechanical and electrical maintenance?

Yes. ATS technicians work across mechanical, electrical and automation systems—including motors, drives, hydraulics, PLCs and robotics. Because equipment issues often span multiple disciplines, ATS brings the right combination of expertise to support your operation. If your equipment is unusual or highly specialized, we’ll confirm coverage during the initial walkthrough.

Do you offer short-term support, long-term partnerships, or both?

Both. Short-term support covers a defined need—such as a shutdown, capital project, or a production ramp. Long-term partnerships provide a dedicated ATS team on site, either complementing your existing maintenance staff or serving as your primary maintenance and reliability team. The scope and duration of support are determined by the facility’s needs, whether that means specific assistance for a specific project or an ongoing maintenance partnership.

Can we start with a smaller engagement before committing to a larger program?

Yes. A common starting point is one-off project support, short-term on-site team or a reliability improvement event for a critical asset. As reliability, uptime and operational performance improve, the scope of the partnership can expand to support more of your operation.
