Actual productive capacity: 320 × 0.60 = 192 productive hours. 

Backlog: 640 ÷ 192 = 3.3 weeks. 

A healthy backlog generally falls between two and four weeks of planned work. Less than two weeks may indicate under-planning, while more than four weeks often signals capacity constraints or planning inefficiencies. Some organizations also monitor a backlog ratio. A ratio near 1 generally indicates maintenance demand and available capacity remain balanced. 

Common causes of backlog growth
