Leading Manufacturer Forms Innovative Partnership to Remain Competitive in the Down Economy
BorgWarner announces partnership with Advanced Technology Services to improve factory maintenance, add efficiency and boost bottom line
PEORIA, IL (November 24, 2009) — Amid new reports suggesting lingering challenges in the automotive industry with word that U.S. auto sales continue to decline from a year ago, industry leaders are looking for creative ways to improve efficiencies and save money. One of those companies is BorgWarner, a longtime manufacturer of highly engineered components and systems for vehicle powertrain applications worldwide. Today BorgWarner announced a partnership with Advanced Technology Services Inc. (ATS) that will increase productivity and cost savings in their plants in Bellwood, IL and Frankfort, IL through the managed services of production asset maintenance.
ATS is the industry leader in managed production equipment maintenance and innovative IT solutions. ATS’ process of production asset optimization will help BorgWarner compete more cost effectively in a highly competitive global economy.
In tough economic times when manufacturers are looking for innovative ways to increase cost savings and efficiency, outsourcing production maintenance can make a significant difference. In fact, in a recent Neilson Research study, manufacturers agreed that outsourcing maintenance is a top strategy to provide real value in a down economy.
“Companies are searching for solutions to keep their doors open and keep plants running,” said ATS president Jeffery Owens. “Our partnership with BorgWarner goes beyond simply cutting out costs, we’re also heavily focused on developing efficiencies. This multi-tiered approach differentiates companies who are looking for short term solutions versus those who will be well positioned in the future.”
As companies reduce their resources in the down economy, outsourcing certain non-core functions to service providers can help companies maintain or even increase their profitability. According to ATS, this strategy allows them to capture market share quickly when the economy improves.
“We add flexibility to manufacturers that helps them operate at lower levels when needed and to ramp up rapidly as production demand changes,” said Owens. “We look forward to helping BorgWarner’s factories run better.”
