ATS hires new Mechatronics program graduates
Advanced Technology Services (ATS) recently announced the successful placement of four graduates of its accelerated Mechatronics training program with Greenville Tech as maintenance technicians with the company. The company will begin its next Mechatronics training program on August 16 and is looking for great people to enroll in the hands-on training program and begin building their careers in the manufacturing industry.
Through ATS’ Multi-Skilled Technical Training Program at Greenville Tech, students learn fundamentals in mechanical, electrical, fluid power, and troubleshooting in about 40 weeks. The program includes classroom and hands-on lab training, and the skills learned allow students to maintain machines in the highly technical and automated manufacturing industry.
“We are very pleased with the positive results of the very first ATS/Mechatronics program at Greenville Tech,” said Rachel Gilles, ATS Training Specialist. “We were able to place each graduate who applied for employment and met eligibility requirements. We are encouraged to see these promising individuals transition from students into employees in just under a year since their training began!”
The term Mechatronics is defined as a multidisciplinary engineering system design, which unites the principles of mechanics, electronics, and computing to generate a simpler, more economical and reliable system. In recent years, many manufacturing companies have embraced this model and the Upstate technical colleges have invested significant time and resources updating their curriculum to teach this unified approach to maintenance systems.
The ATS program is a collaborative effort between Greenville Technical College, ATS, and all of its education and community partners. Gilles said it was rewarding to witness the whole team’s efforts come full-circle, resulting in solid employment for these graduates.
Individuals interested in learning more about the ATS Mechatronics program, should contact Gilles directly at 864-236-0436 ext. 244. She can provide more background information and application guidelines.
